Line 6 Expert Rowbi has been a Line6.com Community member since November 25, 2006, has posted over 4,000 times and has earned over 3,000 points. He’s treating us to a series of blog posts and videos centered on one area of his expertise: Spider Valve™ MkII guitar amplifiers. For more helpful gear tutorials, visit Rowbi’s website.
For these blogs I have been using the computer editor Spider Valve MkII Edit, which is compatible with both PC and Mac®. You can download it for free here and, using MIDI or an FBV™ MkII Express or Shortboard foot controller, you can connect your Spider Valve MkII to your computer.
This last blog focuses on dialing in FX-based tones and briefly looks at Pitch Glide, followed by a slightly more in-depth look at Smart Harmony. I based my tones on one of the crunch tones I created for blog #1.
Both Pitch Glide and Smart Harmony are relatively new Line 6 effects. Both work very well and in the video I show you how to achieve a two-octave shift (up and down, and sweeping between both) and how to play power chords with only one note: How cool is that!!
So check out the video and leave me some of your comments below. All of the tones created for this blog series are posted on CustomTone. Click here to get them all. Also check out the rest of line6.com for more info on the Spider Valve MkII amps, and check out my own website rowbinet.co.uk
