This is one of the best tutorial videos I’ve ever seen from Propellerhead. No matter what kind of music you are into, I think you will enjoy this:

Recently, I did a presentation at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. Part of my presentation was on the Alligator, the new 3-band rhythmic gating effect in Reason 6. Afterward, a music producer (working constantly for various television programs) told me, “Man, when you were demonstrating Alligator, I kept hearing ‘ch-ching, ch-ching, ch-ching!’ in my mind as I imagined how much music I could make quickly and easily using that device!”

Indeed, the Alligator makes it really fun and easy to get some very cool and sought-after effects. In addition to applying it to synth pads (as shown in the video) it can also be a very slick effect to put on an entire mix (for just a measure or so) to create a dramatic transition.
