CMJ 2010: We Have Arrived

Months in preparation. Thousands of dollars in airfare, hotel rooms and rental gear. 30 short minutes to prove yourself. For many indie bands, making a pilgrimage to the CMJ Music Marathon is no small feat. But that’s what makes this event so special.

New York City is a bustling place where people feel free to talk over you, walk over you, and make you earn their trust. It’s not exactly a caring, fostering environment – especially for young musicians looking to get noticed. But the built-in pressure and culture of competition in this city gives the CMJ Music Marathon an added edge and excitement that other music festivals don’t have. And that’s where we come in.

Line 6 is happily supplying full Spider Valve™ and LowDown® amplifier backline to as many bands as we can – about 25 at last count. This gives the traveling CMJ participants one less thing to worry about so they can focus on their performances, their careers, and making it big in the Big Apple. When it comes to performing in the city so nice they named it twice, Sinatra may have said it best: “If I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere.” (That’s how he felt, and he was from just over the river in New Jersey!)

Keep an eye on the Line 6 blog and Twitter feed for constant coverage of our CMJ Music Marathon events. Bands, are you playing CMJ? Let us know!
