Don't laugh too hard but, I am a musician that doesn't have the finances for Computer type recording (i.e; Pro Tools, etc;) I record onto my stoneage Tascam DP-01 FX/CD. Which is great for my purposes but it has limits. So any info on how to improve on a budget (or lack there of) would be cool. But I understand if there's no info there. Stuff like Mic placement, or Mic vs. Direct input etc;and such would be nice also. Just basic stuff to alot of people but, I wil be 42 this year & just want to make some decent recordings for Family & Friends since they have been requesting for years now. I had my time back in the '80's & early '90's with playing in bands & just write @ home now for myself & the above mentioned. I played in a band in the early '90's and we went through all those above listed problems at least once on 2 demo's. Needless to say we screwed ourselves out of some pretty lucrative deals & gigs because the demo's didn't come out up to snuff. We eventually learned from our costly mistakes & recorded some decent stuff, made some money, etc, etc; Too bad this blog didn't exist back then.
